Unfortunately, the Impulse workshop has been cancelled, due to immigration issues for the teacher.
If we follow our first impulse, being spontaneous, life can be unpredictable. Sometimes that’s fun; other times it’s dangerous. This danger leads us to blocking our own flow of life.
In the dance of the 5Rhythms we find a safe container to allow these impulses to move us again. We train ourselves to shape our basic animal-like instincts into art. The dance helps us to find a place in ourselves from where we can witness what moves in us.
Dance is a meditation: making space for impulse to move us without getting attached or pushing them away. When we have danced the dirt of our souls, we can be still and practice listening to some of the more transcendent impulses, which lead us to compassion, patience, devotion and awe. From here we can witness what loves in us.
There are no steps to learn, every dance is complete improvisation. Willingness to move and a minimal level of playfulness is required.
RSVP on Facebook to see attendees let others know you're attending.
Arjan Bouw has been dancing the 5Rhythms for 18 years and has taught the Waves level of this practice since 2005 and Heartbeat since 2010.
His embodied heart is evidence of these teachings. His down to earth humanness creates safe spaces in which the life force can find its way to move through and out onto the dance floor. He lives in the countryside in the Netherlands and teaches internationally.

There are numerous hotels and B&B's in the Charlottesville area, but we also offer dancers the opportunity to stay with members of the Charlottesville Tribe. For home stays, each guest pays $15 per night. This fee goes to Ann, which in turn comes off your host's tuition for this workshop. The energy exchange is taken care of, so no need to bring a gift or take them out for dinner!
If you would like housing please request in the EventBrite Registration Form.
